Turkey GP Turkish GP preview Vitaly Petrov

Vitaly, the Turkish Grand Prix marks the start of the European season in the Formula 1 calendar, how would you summarize the first part of the season? Vitaly

: We have made real progress this year with the car's design and the innovations the car looks very strong. We had some good races and we achieved two podiums. We also had some bad luck but we have remained strong. Things are looking good for us, I think. I am satisfied with my performance so far and with the results we have obtained, but we have to stay focused and keep working at the same pace.

What are your memories of Istanbul Park?

Vitaly: I have very good memories of Istanbul Park, I like racing there. I had some great successes in the GP2 there (winner in 2009). My first race there as a Formula 1 driver in 2010 was also memorable because it was the first time I walked in Q3 in qualifying and then had a good race with great battles with Ferrari - regrets not score any points but the race was very good.

What features offered by the Istanbul circuit?

Vitaly: I like circuit design, has a lot of fast and slow corners, a good mix of everything, but at the same time, a very technical circuit, we all know about the famous Turn 8 in Istanbul. Another positive aspect is that it is a fairly wide track that makes it very safe. The track allows overtaking, and it should help make a great career.

You are currently seventh in the drivers' championship, what goals for the Turkish Grand Prix?

Vitaly: I, of course, best to get the best possible outcome. We are waiting for some updates to Turkey and of course the other teams are also going to react and work hard to earn. We will double our efforts to catch the teams ahead. You never know what can happen during a race weekend, but both my team and I are going to fight hard.
