chief team McLaren, Martin Whitmarsh , said he was confident that 26 years of age ( Lewis Hamilton ) could still fight for the world title with McLaren in the next 10 years.
Martin Whitmarsh, in his third season as McLaren team principal , said: " Lewis has a long career ahead and I think it is smart enough to realize that the environment you have here good for him. "
" Lewis has made it clear to me that he wants to stay in the team and also knows that we want to stay."
"At some point, we must reach an agreement contract, but I think that (despite the media interest ) any of us think we have to reach an agreement three or six months.
"I trust him and I think he trusts me. We are focused on winning the championship this year, next year, in five years and 10 years time, is our core business " he said.
